Facing the Storm

The Solar Storms Saga - Book 1

About the series

Facing the Storm is the second full-length novel in the Solar Storms saga. Six storms churn and boil on the surface of the sun. These storms grow over several weeks until they encompass an area fifteen times the size of Earth. Gradually, the superheated mass reaches a temperature of over ten million degrees Celsius and explodes as a solar flare.

Much of the plasma falls back to the sun but, on the edge of the magnetic fields, several planet-sized clouds are snapped like a whip, break free of the sun’s gravity, and hurtle into space. These coronal mass ejections hit the earth producing a Carrington-like event that knocks technology back more than a hundred years.

About Facing the Storm

Major Franklin leads a motley array of soldiers and civilians trying to reach the last remnants of civilization. Hundreds of snow-covered miles lie between them and gangs vying for control of the dwindling food.

Brothers Conner and Drake Evans had struggled with the usual issues of adolescence in rural America. Now, as orphans, they fight to survive on their small farm as society collapses around them. Although much has been ripped from their lives, they have each other, and one other thing now more precious than gold—food. Many will kill to take it from them.

Before brute force reigns, can some semblance of civilization be restored?
