We Have a Title!

Often the hardest task for me is deciding the title of a new book.

For nearly a year I’ve been calling my latest writing project TEOTWAWKI “The End Of The World As We Know It.”  That was never going to be the final title, but I needed to call it something.  I don’t worry about the title of the book until I’m just about done.  Well, I’m just about done.

A quick synopsis of my current novel (without spoilers) is, terrorists smuggle a nuclear bomb into Washington D.C. and detonate it during the State of the Union Address.  Caden Westmore is in nearby Bethesda and watches as the mushroom cloud grows over the capital.  The next day, as he drives away from the burning city, he learns that another city has been destroyed and then another.  Panic ensues and society starts to unravel.

I currently have over 56,000 words written.  Chapters 1 through 21 are ready for final editing and I’m writing on chapter 25.

After considering several dozen possibilities I have chosen, “Through Many Fires,” as the title.  As with my first two novels, Titan Encounter and Final Duty, the title for this one came from a line in the book.

Now that I have settled on a title I’ve contacted graphic designer Micah Hansen to create the cover.  Through Many Fires is scheduled for release both on Kindle and in paperback on August 1st.
