Animated Book Cover
The idea popped into my head recently that with the advent of artificial intelligence, why not have an animated book cover? Of course, it couldn’t be on the actual book cover—not yet, anyway—but it seemed like a fun way to promote a novel. So, I tried to create one using several different A.I. platforms. I could say the tools failed, but in truth, I think we both did.
However, a book marketer I’ve worked with, Jummy O., took up the challenge. The project took a few days and went through a couple of revisions before she sent me this fifteen-second video animation of my first bestselling book, Through Many Fires. In the opening chapter of the novel, a nuclear bomb detonates near the Capitol building during the State of the Union address. That act of terrorism sets off all the events that follow.
For some reason, my website host, Squarespace, didn’t like the file, but click on the image and you can view the animation on YouTube. Despite this minor snag, I’m considering animating the covers of many past and future books. Let me know what you think of animated covers and if you would like more.
