This morning the ebook edition of A Time to Endure went on sale for 99 cents.
For our first promotion of 2017, we’re featuring the second book in the Strengthen What Remains series, A Time to Endure.
Read MoreI started this blog on August 21, 2012, with the release of my first book, Titan Encounter. Most of those posts are now in what I call the “Early Blog.” I’m gradually updating their format and bringing them into this new journal. Back then the sole purpose of the blog was to promote my books, but gradually that changed.
That’s how it started but, over the years, I’ve mused about other things that are important to me, such as my family, my farm, rural life, and occasionally about politics and country. However, I try to limit the politics in this journal. If you want to know more about my political leaning go to The Conservative Alternative.

Read MoreThis time of year I like to take a Janus look at my goals.
Janus was the Roman god of beginnings and endings. He looked into the future and to the past. So, as we end one year and begin another, I like to take a Janus look both back and forward in time.
I write goals every year and, as the year winds to an end, I enjoy looking back at those old goals and seeing how I have done.
Read MoreI’m excited to announce that the print editions of my novels are now available on Walmart.com.
Since writing is my business I work hard to expand the distribution of my stories, but I didn’t have anything to do with the addition of Walmart distribution. I didn’t even realize my books were on Walmart.com until a fellow author mentioned that their books were. So I checked.
Read MoreThis has been my best year.
Since I released my debut novel, Titan Encounter, in 2012, my book sales have grown each year, but this year has been exceptional. With more than a third of the year remaining, my sales have already exceeded those of 2015.
Read MoreTonight the Cascade Awards were presented at the Oregon Christian Writers Conference.
During the awards dinner, I sat with friends Barbara Blakey and Kristie Kandoll. Barbara is a past Cascade Award winner and Kristie was up for the Unpublished Historical Fiction Award tonight along with another friend, Julie McDonald. I really expected one of them to walk away with the award, but the winner was the third finalist, Kathleen Freeman, with her book Children of the Revolution.

Read MoreI guess it’s only natural for writers to support libraries.
Back in September, I blogged about finding my novel, A Time to Endure, at my local Chehalis library. When I visited the library to get a picture for that September blogpost, my friend Amy, who works there, checked the database and discovered other libraries in the system had copies of Through Many Fires. This surprised me since I’ve never made an effort to get my novels in any library.
Read MoreAs 2016 begins two of my books have reached milestones.
If a reader enjoys one of my stories, I certainly encourage them to write a review. As I mention at the end of many of my books, “the more favorable reviews a book has, the better it sells.”

A few weeks ago on December 18th, the paperback and ebook editions of Braving the Storms, the third book of the Strengthen What Remains series, was released. Even before the December debut, Kevin Pierce, the producer for both Through Many Fires and A Time to Endure, agreed to continue his role as the voice of the series. Kevin is a respected, Audible-approved, producer and narrator of both fiction and non-fiction audiobooks.
Read MoreI like to look forward this time of year.
The first website cover picture of the year was snapped by Paul Itkin. Unfortunately, I know nothing more about him. However, it is with his beautiful picture that I begin my own 2016 journey.
Read MoreI received a surprising email recently.
Since I started, I’ve felt that the best way to promote and sell my books was online. While I’m thrilled when it occurs, I put little effort into getting them into stores and libraries. Still, over time, they have appeared in several brick and mortar establishments like the Strand in New York City, Powell’s in Portland, and my local store, Book N Brush.
Read MoreThe editor of Backdoor Survival compares A Time to Endure to the bestseller Patriots.
It amazes me how often events in life come in pairs. A few days ago I discovered that New York Times best-selling author, and the editor of SurvivalBlog, James Wesley Rawles recommended my novel, Through Many Fires.

I haven’t finished the novel or even named it yet, but I’ve sold at least one copy.

Read MoreMarketing and publicity are part of being an author but, like most writers, I avoid them.
I’d rather stay in my office typing my next story than go to a party or even most meetings with other authors. It’s not as if I hate people. I don’t but, like most writers, I’m an introvert.
